ABOUT US

Kindness that welcomes, academics that inspire, education that nourishes the whole child.

Since 1956, North Star Christian School has been dedicated to providing students with a high-quality, fully-accredited education that prepares them to contribute meaningfully to their community and the world. Located in Hermon, Maine, and serving the greater Bangor area, we offer a comprehensive curriculum for students in first grade through eighth, equipping them with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and character necessary for success in both academic and life pursuits.

We are a part of the Seventh-day Adventist school system, which is the second largest Christian (and largest Protestant) school system in the world, enrolling nearly two million students in over 150 countries worldwide. This provides us with strong academic support, standards, and curriculum, empowering us to pursue academic excellence in all subjects and disciplines.

Our program strives to keep Jesus the focus of all we do, making the Scriptural truth that “God is love” the foundation of every part of our curriculum. We stress the importance of how special each student is in God’s eyes and look at how each student was created so uniquely. The principles of Jesus, such as love and kindness, are our guides.

Why choose North Star Christian school?

  • A small but growing school provides each student with individual attention and care.

  • We take bullying seriously and make sure that every student has a safe environment in which to learn and grow.

  • We offer the best of both worlds: strong academics, with a solid Jesus-centered foundation.

  • Our students annually score higher than their peers in standardized testing.

  • Our location allows for lots of creative outdoor play such as sledding, building forts in the woods, and igloos in the snow.

  • Our size means we can take plenty of fun and exciting field trips such as ice skating, swimming, and trips to the apple orchards.

  • Our school is more than a school, it’s a family where each student makes lasting connections with teachers, students, and the families they come from.
